Having kids and having a tidy house can feel like two mutually exclusive concepts. Once you have kids, stuffed animals start to appear in every corner of the house as if by magic. Parents wander round muttering “one day I’ll give all these toys away” under their breath, while tripping over them several times a day. But the truth is that not only do we not give them away, but their number keeps growing thanks to the new toys that arrive every birthday and Christmas. So, we need to find another solution to the problem. Luckily, we’ve found one: the more organised the toys are, and the easier they are to find, the less they end up scattered throughout the house. This way, your little ones don’t have to take everything out each time they look for one toy, and they’ll also learn to tidy up after themselves. So, learning how to organise teddy bears is an issue that really must be taken seriously.
How to organise teddy bears:
A great option is to keep them in differently-sized boxes or organisers – boxes with dividers to split them into several smaller storage spaces. In this way, you can organise the toys in whatever way suits you best, bearing in mind that it needs to be easy for your kids to understand. Even better, if your kids propose their own method for organising their toys, they’ll know exactly where each one goes and be able to tidy up after themselves. For example, you could use a divider and put each of the most popular toys in its own space, out on display. As the boxes are independent units, they can be taken to another room and then, when your kids finish playing, they can put each toy back in its compartment, and take the box back to its storage place.
For stuffed animals that come with clothes or accessories, which often fall down and get lost between furniture, why not use the separators with more, smaller spaces. You could store all the outfits for one toy in one space, one type of garment in another, or clothes in one space and accessories in another… there’s no right or wrong answer; everyone gets to choose the way that best suits their home and their kids.
Another advantage of using boxes, organisers and separators to organise teddies is that, as they are individual pieces, they can easily adapt to whatever storage space is available in your kids’ room. You can keep them inside drawers, on shelves, on top of cupboards, under the bed, and even on the desk. There are many different sizes available to choose from, so you can take advantage of any little corner or space. Likewise, the wide range of materials on offer allows you to choose the one that best suits your taste, which is especially important if something is going to be out on display.
So, as you can see, if we pay proper attention to how we organise teddies in our kids’ room, it can help to keep that room and the rest of the house clean and tidy, while also serving as an easy way to help kids learn to pick up after themselves. It’s great for everyone!
