Springtime is here, which typically means it’s time to enjoy the outdoors. But, due to the stay at home orders in place, heading outdoors isn’t really an option this spring.
Luckily, there’s still a lot that you can do to enjoy springtime at home.
Check out this guide to discover the top ideas for enjoying springtime at home.
1. Set up a backyard picnic
Just because you can’t go to the park, doesn’t mean you still can’t enjoy a nice spring picnic! All you need to do is make some picnic-type foods, and then grab a basket and a blanket and head to your backyard.
If you don’t have a backyard, then you can take your picnic out to your porch or patio. Or, you can crack open a window, lay down a blanket, and have a picnic right in your living room. While it may not be the same as enjoying a picnic on the grass, it’s a good way to get in the spring spirit.
2. Map out your garden
While you may not be able to head to the nursery to pick up gardening supplies, you can at least start imagining your summertime garden.
Mapping out your garden is a great activity to get the kids involved in. All you need to do is grab a pencil and some paper and let your imagination go wild. You can use sites like Pinterest and Instagram for inspiration and allow your little ones to help pick out the flowers you’re going to plant.
If possible, you can also order some seeds online and start planting your garden indoors. It can be really enjoyable to watch the tiny shoots sprout on your windowsill and bring new life to your home.
3. Do some spring crafts
If you have some little ones that are getting stir crazy at home, then doing some spring crafts is a great way to get everyone in the springtime spirit. Here are some craft projects you can try out:
- Use empty rolls of toilet paper to create fun animals like frogs and bees
- Use bright-colored paper to make spring flowers
- Glue some cardboard in the shape of a flower to a popsicle stick, and then give your kids some yarn and markers to make yarn-wrapped flowers
- Bring out the playdough and Q-tips to make daisies
- Grab some mason jars and paint them with beautiful spring colors and flower designs
As you can see, there are a lot of great spring craft ideas.
4. Do some spring cleaning
While spring cleaning may not sound like your idea of a good time, trust us, it can really get you in the mood for spring.
You’ll feel great once you’ve gone through your stuff and reorganised. Plus, it can feel very satisfying to put away your winter clothes and bring out your summer/spring clothes. If you need storage for your winter clothes, you can check out some of these home storage containers.
5. Take a virtual tour
To prevent people from going stir crazy, more and more organisations are offering virtual tours of national parks and other outdoor areas.
For those wanting to explore Europe, you can take virtual tours of Buckingham Palace, the gardens of Versailles, Windsor Castle, and more. Or, you can jump across the pond and take virtual tours of one of the many beautiful US National Parks. Zoos, aquariums, and museums are also offering virtual tours.
Are you ready to enjoy springtime?
While springtime may not be the same this year, there are clearly still a lot of ways you can enjoy spring from your home.
